Access Gmail with Outlook Using IMAP


To set up access to all your Gmail mail and labels in Outlook 2010 (you can also access 2007)

Make sure IMAP access is enabled in Gmail.

Step: 1
Select File | Account Information | Add Account: 





Step: 2
Make sure Manually configure server settings or additional server types is checked | Click Next:


Step: 3
Make sure Internet E-mail is selected | Click Next:



















Step: 4
Fill User Information             :
Account Type: Select            : IMAP
Incoming mail server            : imap.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server(SMTP) : smtp.gmail.com
Type your Gmail account name under User Name

If your Gmail address is "elan@gmail.com", for example, type "elan"

Type your Gmail password under Password | Select Next:




















Step: 5
Click More Settings
Go to the Outgoing Server tab.
Make sure My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked.


Step: 6
Now go to the Advanced tab
Select SSL under Use the following type of encrypted connection:
Incoming server (IMAP): and Outgoing server (SMTP):
Type "465" under Server Port Numbers for Outgoing server (SMTP) | Click Ok.



























Step: 7
Click Next and Finish the Setup.
